Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Texas toast
- Shredded cheese (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. After a few minutes, add the chopped onion and green bell pepper, cooking until the vegetables are softened.
- Once the meat and vegetables are cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Next, stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- While the beef mixture is simmering, toast the Texas toast slices according to the package instructions until golden brown. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto each slice of toast and top with shredded cheese and pickles if desired. Serve hot and enjoy.
