Description

This seasoned rice is simple, comforting, and full of warm, savory notes, providing a perfect side dish for meats or soups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Measure the rice and spices so everything is ready.
  2. Add the rice to the hot oil and toast it for about 2–3 minutes until it’s slightly golden and smells nutty. Pour in the chicken broth and stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed. Keep the lid on and avoid stirring while it simmers.
  4. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat gently with moisture to prevent drying.
