- 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 pound ground beef or sausage
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Shredded cheese, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Chop the cabbage and dice the onion.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Transfer to a greased casserole dish. Top with shredded cheese if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Great as leftovers; store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
