Description
A simple, cozy dessert highlighting bright, juicy strawberries under a warm, buttery top. Perfect for weeknights or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup sugar (divided)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish. Toss sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar and set aside.
- Combine 1 cup flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Whisk to blend, then stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon macerated strawberries and their juices over the batter without stirring.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool for 10–15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use ripe strawberries for best flavor. Macerate for improved sweetness. For a crispier top, dot with extra melted butter before baking.
