Description

A simple, cozy dessert highlighting bright, juicy strawberries under a warm, buttery top. Perfect for weeknights or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish. Toss sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar and set aside.
  2. Combine 1 cup flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Whisk to blend, then stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon macerated strawberries and their juices over the batter without stirring.
  4. Bake for 45–50 minutes until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  5. Cool for 10–15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use ripe strawberries for best flavor. Macerate for improved sweetness. For a crispier top, dot with extra melted butter before baking.
