- 1 pound ground beef or sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups sugar-free marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional toppings: olives, mushrooms, pepperoni
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or sausage, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Add the onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to the baking dish, spread evenly, and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
