Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh rosemary (optional)
- Salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour, salt, and 1/4 cup olive oil to the yeast mixture and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, brush with oil, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the risen dough and transfer to a greased baking sheet. Stretch and press into a rectangle, pressing dimples into the surface.
- Mix minced garlic with remaining olive oil and brush over the dough. Sprinkle with Parmesan and rosemary. Let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly, sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
Serve warm with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping or use for sandwiches.
