Description

A quick weeknight dinner that balances rich salmon with a tangy-sweet blackberry balsamic glaze and a gentle spicy kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the salmon fillets lightly with salt and pepper. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Combine the blackberries, balsamic vinegar, honey, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it simmers, then press down on the blackberries.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Cook the salmon fillets for 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Brush the glaze onto the salmon and let it caramelize slightly in the pan.
  7. Serve warm with additional sauce and garnish as desired.

Notes

For a smoother glaze, strain the mixture after reducing. Adjust red pepper flakes to control heat level.
