Description

A warm, savory bread filled with Italian herbs and two types of cheese, perfect for sandwiches or toasted with butter.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup warm water, 1 tsp sugar, and 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp Italian seasoning, and 1 tsp garlic powder to the yeast mixture; mix until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and gently fold in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan and 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan; let rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the bread cool for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
