Description

Crispy, golden onion ring chips, soaked in buttermilk and coated in seasoned flour and breadcrumbs, fried to perfection for a delicious snack or side.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into thin rings, separate them, and soak in buttermilk for 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place breadcrumbs in another shallow bowl.
  3. Preheat oil to 350°F (175°C). Dredge onion rings in seasoned flour, dip in buttermilk, then coat in breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

Notes

For added crunch, double-dip in buttermilk after flour coating before breadcrumbs. Can be served with various dipping sauces.
