Description

A festive and fresh appetizer featuring crispy baguette slices topped with a vibrant mix of diced tomatoes, basil, and garlic, arranged in a wreath shape.


Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Mozzarella balls (optional, for decoration)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices and arrange them on a baking sheet. Mince the garlic and chop the basil. Dice the tomatoes and place them in a bowl.
  2. In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and gently fold to coat. Taste and adjust seasoning. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes to let flavors meld.
  3. Brush each bread slice lightly with olive oil on both sides. Bake the slices for 5-7 minutes until golden and crisp at the edges. Remove the bread from the oven and let the slices cool slightly.
  4. Top each toasted slice with the tomato mixture. Arrange the bruschetta in a circular shape to form a wreath on a serving platter. Optionally, decorate with mozzarella balls and fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Serve with a crisp white wine or sparkling cider. Store toasted bread and toppings separately to maintain crispness.
