Description
Warm, gooey, and slightly tangy sourdough cinnamon rolls with a sweet cinnamon-brown sugar filling and a smooth powdered sugar glaze.

- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, milk, sugar, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
- Add the flour and salt to the wet mixture and blend until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic, then let it rise until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar before rolling tightly and slicing into rolls.
- Let the rolls rise again for 30–45 minutes, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to create frosting, then drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
For best results, use an active sourdough starter and enjoy rolls warm for optimal flavor. They can be stored for up to two days at room temperature.
